Title: OpenScapeVoice installation
Post by: Zac on June 30, 2010, 12:28:04 pm
Hi All,

I'm new on the forum and I have few question about installation OpenScapeVoice/Hipath8000

- is it possible to install OpenScape voice on the normal PC without using specific HW (IBM/FujitsuSiemens server, only for demo or test purpose (few clients, gateways...)?

Thanks

I think it would be very hard to do.

Very specific Hardware is required as base sever to run (the simplest) OpenScape Voice solution (in the common event that we consider the Integrated Simplex configuration as the deployment model of OSV V4 we would to approach); think that the base single server of this deployment model will run:

- OpenScape Voice Assistant administration application
- OpenScape Media Server
- OpenScape Deployment Licence Service (as known as DLS)
- HiPath License Management (HLM) tool
- Common Management Portal (CMP)
- OpenScape UC Application

The following servers can be used as computing nodes for OpenScape Voice:

- IBM x3650 T
- IBM x3550 M2 (available since OpenScape Voice V4 R1)
- IBM x3250 M2
- Fujitsu-Siemens Computer (as known as FSC) PRIMERGY RX330 S1

and also, keep in mind that the running software is (at least):

- LINUX Operating System (OpenScape Voice uses the SuSe LINUX Enterprise Server 10)
- PrimeCluster (altough not used in the Integrated Simplex deployment model)
- SolidTech database
- RTP middleware
- OpenScape Voice middleware

So...it's probably not so simple to give it a try on a very common out-of-the shelf hardware.

Kind regards,
Kimera.
